When a tooth has been cracked, broken or extensively damaged by decay or gum disease, our dentists will do everything possible to save it. Unfortunately, sometimes it’s simply too late and extracting the tooth may be the only option.
Most extraction procedures are routine and can be provided by our dentists under local anaesthetic. In a small number of cases, factors such as the tooth’s size, shape and position, as well as the age and general health of the patient can complicate the procedure. In these cases we may refer patients to a specialist oral surgeon.
As many tooth extraction are avoidable, it's important to talk to our experienced dental staff to understand the underlying cause of any issues that have resulted in the loss of the tooth, and more importantly, how they can be avoided in the future. Your teeth are a great asset and deserve all the care and attention you can give them!
